Hi Mary,Failing to understand the Indian culture brought about a great tragedy. I often wonder what would have happened if the United States government officials and citizens had understood the Indian culture. They would have been hard pressed to think of Indians as "savages." Unfortunately, this would not be the last time the US would get into a conflict without understanding the culture we were engaging.

You are so very right. I'm certain there will be many other times, also, in the future. I can't help but wonder if, say in the year, 3000, or beyond we will get the same treatment from a superior culture from--outer space.
