» Tom - "Whack, whack, ping..."

Reading your article reminded me of a humorous debacle I witnessed one day on the golf course at the Villa Roma resort in Sullivan County, New York.

The time share and condo apartment buildings are lined all around the 18-hole golf course, and my crew and I have contracted to stain the buildings intermittently since 1989.

One day while on a coffee break we were watching the golfers tee off on the hole behind the unit we were working on. While we're working, we're used to hearing the familiar "Whack" when the golf club comes in contact with the ball. This particular day the building was a fair distance from the hole and we could see the action before the sound reached us. The golfer teed off, the ball hit the tree beside him, and then it rebounded off of the golf cart behind him. What we heard was: "Whack, whack, ping, son-of-a-#%$@&."

In response to message posted by Tom:

That's funny! I of course have been there, done that, many times.

When I golfed in Mazatlan, Mexico there were houses lining the course and I hit a bad slice and heard glass break. I waited to hear an angry homeowner but they must have been at work so I took a drop and penalty and kept playing.

In Las Vegas there is a municipal course called Desert Rose and the houses along the course remind me of the pictures of a war torn country with the houses being pock marked from gun fire.
