» QuartzNH - Aromas

This was a very interesting article! I didn't know about aromas and ghosts were together in many cases. I was at an old theatre house, which were many different things in the past. And people don't cook or anything there anymore, But I remember smelling Brown sugar...everyone thought I was a little cuckoo! Well, I am a little strange! :o) but this was defiantly not something I had anticipated on. I would be driving in my car and smell Cologne. A Mans cologne and I'm the only one in the car...and I don't wear anything, like perfume. I would smell all sorts of things...sometimes I'll smell something burning...or garbage, or sometimes a nice flower scent.
This article was great!

Thanks for your kind words, Erica. I know exactly what you mean about the cologne. There is a very sweet aroma (like perfume)that I've smelled many times over the years. There is no explanation I've been able to find.

» Red - interesting read...

Janice,

I have been exploring the Haunted Happenings Event and came across your article. I'm so glad I did. This was a very interesting read.

My grandmother loved roses. She and I were very close. She often wore rose scented toilet water. When she first passed away, I often smelled roses when something was troubling me. I took it as a sign that she was watching over me. I still smell roses occasionally but over the years, the times are further between. Guess grandma thinks I am old enough now to look after myself and just checks in every once in a while. :-)

I enjoyed my visit here. If you haven't already done so, I suggest you check out the event. There's a lot of great spine tingling articles to be found there.

Thanks Mary. I never really realized how common aromas were as far as hauntings were concerned.

Well am I ever so glad to find out that I am not crazy. This happens to me often and no one else seems to be able to smell anyhting. Maybe that's a good or bad thing. Hum. I mean I will smell this really strong odor it could be something burning, roses, etc.

I have had several very weird experiences involoving smells that can't be explained in conventional ways, unless one decided I was crazy. LOL.

I remember one time right after the birth of my twins. It was the frist day home from the hospital so there were a lot of family memembers at the house. A good friend of mine had been murdered a few days prior but no one wanted to tell me yet considering the circumstances. I had gone to lay down for a nap and fallen asleep when all of a sudden I was awaken by this over powering cologne smell in my room. It was like someone had broken a bottle of cologne. I jumped up started looking for the source and opening all the windows. The smell just became stronger.

My Mom came running into the room to see what was wrong. I asked her if she could smell the cologne and she said "what"? I was still in a daze from waking up so abruptly, but there was no mistakiing the odor and it finally hit me what it smelled like. It was Aramis cologne.

I turned to her with a straight face and said, "it smells like Philip." He always wore the same kind of cologne and it just had a special scent when he wore it. My mom almost dropped everything. I think she would have choked had she been drinking anything.

That's when she told me what had happened. At that moment the smell disappeared completely like it had never been there at all. No lingering traces anywhere.

I had named my little boy Philip. Maybe he just stopped by to say thanks. It certainly wasn't a bad or repulsive smell so I know he didn't mean to frighten me in anyway.

I loved the articles and reading the post here, at least I know I am not alone in this habit.
