February Article on "Deep Throat" and Pornography

The mass rape of women has become almost accepted in this country. (If you don't believe me ask the 25-50% of American women who have been victims of sexual violence.) The number of women who are sexually assaulted continues to grow every year on college campuses. Though I am not attacking all pornography as a whole, this movie is extremely misogynistic and showcases the role so many men still believe women ought to serve.

Is the view then that such a movie actually causes or encourages such violence against women? The western world is built on the idea of the patriarchy. Such a movie is merely a result of that, not a cause of its continuation.
