» Gay_Klok - Congrats, Michael Ten first prizes??? Gosh!Haven't I read this before? re going to the Alpine show NOT to buy plants? :-] Sounds a marvellous show, awfully nerve racking though. I have been in the Rhododendron show but luckily I was attending a conference at the time of judging. Another delegate slipped out at lunch time and told me she had seen my name everywhere. Not quite but did win a few firsts and a runner up champion of the show. Won some money too which I couldn't get to collect but my favourite Nursery man was Secretary and gave me the certificates and cash when we next went to his business- so you can guess where the money ended up - and the certificates after 2 shows line the wall of our lavatory. Unfortunately, the entries must be in Friday night and early Sat morning so we havve to go down to the country garden and carry them back on Friday and they get very dishevelled, no matter how I carry them. So I don't go into the show anymore -- posted by Gay_Klok » Michael - The Alpine show Gay, thanks for the comments about the show, unfortunately most of my plants were over before show day. As I live on the west coast it is warmer than the rest of the country because of the gulf stream, this means that my plants are about three weeks ahead of the others. I would need a show in the middle of march.Gay would have such a thing as seed of Blandfordia Punicea or grandiflora?. I have tried everywhere and cannot get fresh seed. -- posted by Michael » Carol Wallace - Promises I don't know how often I've gone to a show swearing I wouldn't buy. Those are always the times that I find some plant that I have been looking for FOREVER! So of course you just have to get out the wallet. . .Michael, have you asked gary Buckley, our Alpines and Bulbs editor, if he has the bladfordia seed? He grows all kinds of things from seed and just may be able to help you if Gay can't. -- posted by Carol Wallace » Gary - Hi Michael, Hi Michael,I don't have seed of Blandfordia Punicea or grandiflora, is it legal - your end for me to send bulbs of these? Think I can send you some Blandfordia punicea, will have to hunt round for Blandfordia grandiflora as I don't grow this. If it is legal your end to send bulbs, please send me your street address, Ta. mailto:garyrene@ozemail.com.au cheers, -- posted by Gary
