If you have room, make a three-bin compost pile: one for the new stuff, one for the stuff that's cooking from last year, and one that's ready to use now.

What tips or questions do you have about composting?

My one tip: Patience and then you will have the best soil additive that money can't purchase :+)

Happy Gardening!

Living in the Southwest of the US, I have to worry about my pile drying out. I forget to check, and then have to grab the hose after realizing the pile has been dry for a month! While this slows down the cooking, at least I can feel good about composting my scraps that would have otherwise gone to the landfill.
