Great to have you here with us Kirk! I'm glad we have you to address Design. I'm certain to learn a lot from you! I had never thought of veggie gardens as being "parterre", but you are right. A new way to think of my veggie garden. The poor bed won't have to feel less stylish than the rest of the beds. I think you've raised it's self esteem by several notches today! Of course I could do more to unify it with the rest of the garden. Hmmm. Something to think on.

I am rather broadminded about what a parterre is, but that is my approach to design. I think that it is best to look at the ideas behind historic styles and grow from old roots. These old roots can produce new blooms, you don't have to imitate historic gardens in order to learn from them.
