Welcome, Gregor. Your first article is very interesting. I'm afraid I'm way behind on the Pokemon learnig curve. When you mention this part of the article under Pokemon:

"Dragon Warrior 1& 2, Robopon, Daikatana adventure, Harvest Moon 2 Stay away from: Dragon Warrior Monsters, Azure Dreams"

Are those Pokemon games also? If so why should we stay away from Dragon Warrior Monsters and Azure Dreams? Sorry if I sound ignorant -- I need to learn! LOL

Great to have your topic here.
Tina

I'm very glad you asked.

Pokemon does not stand alone in it's own category of gameplay. Initially, it is classified as an RPG, which is a genre of gameplay, Role Playing Game. This means that the structure of the game is that you play as the main character, where you go out on an adventure or quest. Returning to Pokemon, i rated it as the best game in its class, while other games such as, Daikatana, Harvest Moon2 and Robopon are also good RPG games, 'though they are not related to Pokemon what so ever except the fat they're RPGs.

That means if you're looking for an RPG game for gameboy color, get Pokemon, but if that particular game does not interest you, Daikatana and the others are also quality games.

The "Stay Away From" category refers to RPGs which are not very high-quality games and I wouldn't really suggest buying them.

I personally really enjoy Heroes of Might & Magic, but that's largely because those turn-based RPG types are what I grew up with! It's a throwback to the old Nintendo days when I play it, at the same time, keeps fairly true to the other Might & Magic games.

I really enjoy the Heroes of Might and Magic games for Gameboy because they're the only ones in the class of RPG/RTS . There are many TBS/RPG games out there, basically replicas of Pokemon, but none of them seem to be able to live up to Pokemon's standards. But anyway, I would love to see more Real Time Strategy games released on Gameboy Color. The only one currently, Warlocked, is my all-time favorite Gameboy game. If you're not aware of that type of game, it's basically a; collect minerals, construct building and build armies to attack game, like Starcraft or Comand and Conquer on the PC!
