I think the idea of bots is cool but i don't think i could ever completely trust a computer to do sensitive things on it's own without supervision like operate or take care of siblings or youngsters. The only exception, thinking ahead, is the nano-bot. Not sure if that's correct spelling but they're creating robots small enough to fit into your blood system and repair damage cells, clear pathways and someday even alter DNA. Of course that's a long times away but strange to think i'd put myself in a robots hands but never trust them to look after kids. Afterall, with some kids, the robots may need looking after...

The missing "common sense" function interests me. I think that a lot of that has to do with, "When in doubt, conform." At least, that's the way I hear it urged upon humans. So maybe if an AI was given sufficient rules to allow conformity in a wide variety of situations, it could be credited with common sense.

Anyone: What science fiction stories best show the possibilities of a 'bot-staffed world?
