In response to message posted by Gay_Klok:Who reading that can resist looking for a bit more?? I have to go hunt up my own copy and reread it. It's been far too long! I've tried and tried to find other books by the author and have come up a blank. -- posted by Carol Wallace » Gay_Klok - Re: Great teaser!! In response to message posted by CarolWallace:My edition is the 9th Edition, Carol, printed in august mcml and it does not mention any other books by Don Marquis - but in Marquis' intro he mentions that they first appeared in the New York Evening sun and then New York's Herald Tribune for ten years [just Archie]. He says he tried to kill them off but received so many howls of protests of readers that he continually had to resurrect them. He says that he gathered a few of Archy's communications into a book. He was astounded by the book selling 30,000 copies. For 2 years he published in Collier's eekly and the editors insisted that I do them every week. For that reason it seemed worthwhile to get out another book. So that is two I only own Archy's life of mehitabel Toujours gai "here is a piece of political news -- posted by Gay_Klok » Carol Wallace - Re: Re: Great teaser!! In response to message posted by Gay_Klok:I must have both books collected into one volume, because I have read the pieces you are quoting. And in fact, thinking back, there is a huge section that is basically mehitabel - like when she goes to hollywood and returns with the platinum blond kittens and more. I have an idea, Gay. Why don't we rename your column "Toujours Gay"! Like I say, I have to find my copy. The trouble is, this house is practically wall to wall bookshelves and many of those are stacked two books deep. Locating things can be an all day project! I wish I was an editor of the sort who could go to the newspaper archives and collect all the unpublished pieces and turn them into a new volume. -- posted by Carol Wallace » fido2001 - whoops well dont blame me butthis thing was turned on and connected to the internet it said whatever that is and fido had fallen asleep anyway he'll never notice me here i said to mehitabel though she disagreed as usual but i jumped onto the keyboard anyway after jumping onto the wrong keys this modern age keeps producing a friendly butterfly flying north so i kept jumping from key to key so i somehow managed to get our names thank you all for your kind words and to think au revoir and archy -- posted by fido2001 » Carol Wallace - Ah, archy In response to message posted by fido2001:It is SO good to have you back and writing again! -- posted by Carol Wallace » Gay_Klok - Re: whoops In response to message posted by fido2001:archy, when I look above, (after hitting the reply button] it is all one straight line across and is not nearly so poetic. i like your line spacing to be short and sweet -- posted by Gay_Klok » fido2001 - Re: Re: whoops In response to message posted by Gay_Klok:gay klok i just jump it can be and dont know i try to stay away same thing with well gay klok that means we do all the work the aamu thank you also the computer has do you happen to have id like to ask him well toujours gay -- posted by fido2001 « Previous 1 2 3 Next » Please follow the guidelines set forth in the Suite101 Posting Etiquette when adding to the discussion. |
