» TedyBear - The future of the Internet:Where will it end?

One of the hottest topics today is the internet and it's development.
Business is today shifting to the net, leaving the real world.

But where is the net going?
There are some movies and people who have thought about it, Tom Clancy has a vision on the future of the net; shown in the movie Netforce.

But another movie speculating about the future is The Matrix.
(I personally recommend that you watch both movies.=) )

In The Matrix our world is only a computer program, while the Artificial Intelligence controlling the machines is ruling the world.

But there has not yet been developed a single chip fast enough to support this kind of technology.

If there should be a chip on the market that would transfer 10 GB/sec, it should be marketed at a consumer friendly price.

The internet is for everybody, whatever they do on the net.

Is it illigal or not, that's why there is law enforcement.

No government can control the net, how hard they attempt.

The attempts have been futile so far, and have only gotten the rage of human rights groups on their necks.

The net is slow today, but it's not up to the hardware manufacturers, it's up to the software makers to construct their programs so that they will get so much information packed in the smallest possible ammount of data.

This would be a good solution for the net, it would have to send less amount of data, but it would be a expensive solution for software developers, it would require a lot of work.

But another totally different solution would be to extend the development of packing algorithms, packing large ammount of data before transmitting it.

But that doesn't work for games, least for 3D-shoot 'em ups, where the survival of the gamer depends on ping times.

The connections are fairly good on the continents, but when it comes to connections between the states and Europe, there are much work to be done.

Also a new Pentium III processor would be nice...
My Pentium 200 Mhz MMX is getting old....
(I bought it two years ago...)
