Hi Virginia,

Well, I liked the way you wrote this article--a good mix of scholarship and interesting writing.

Gullah is a new word for me. I never got to the S.C. islands when I lived in N.C. for so many years.

Appreciate this article. Doubtless, I will visit Charlestown someday and learn more about the Gullah and (ok, cannot quite remember how to spell it).
