Wonderful article! I also followed your link to read the entire poem which I also enjoyed.It was interesting to me that you said that clowns may have been a representation of the devil. Sometimes children are very frightened of clowns. I have seen clowns that I thought were a bit frightening instead of funny. Your article brings a new perspective to me that makes a lot of sense.
