Wonderful article! I also followed your link to read the entire poem which I also enjoyed.

It was interesting to me that you said that clowns may have been a representation of the devil. Sometimes children are very frightened of clowns. I have seen clowns that I thought were a bit frightening instead of funny. Your article brings a new perspective to me that makes a lot of sense.

As always, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit! Thanks.

Thanks for stopping by. I found the devil point interesting also. Had never thought of that before. You are right, some clowns are fearful and children cry when they see them.
