» themos100 - Finding folk music

Reading your article makes me insanely jealous! The fact is round here (Guildford, Surrey), there seem to be zero folk clubs/pubs, so the prospect of a themed evening or any other sort of folk evening is an entirely academic debate!

I get to listen to Mike Harding on R2 most weeks, but even still, I find it very difficult to keep in with the folk scene and I rarely know which albums I'm going to like and so almost never buy them.

Quite a dilemma! I'm thinking of buying Bill Jones' "Panchuran", which is quite well spoken of from what I hear. But what I really like is acoustic guitar, a la John Renbourn etc. Do you know of anything similar? My "Traveller's Prayer" CD must be near wearing out by now (metaphorically speaking) and I'm really keen to find more instrumental music with a strong English traditional influence. Can you name any perhaps?

Thanks for your help, and a great site.
