» Ganious - Edit

This article could be valid, but its author has not taken the time to edit. Several grammatical mistakes weaken her stance, only because she says she's studied journalism. In writing as well as fitness, these basic flaws can cause injury. One should put forth the effort and hone their craft. I don't want to knock the effort nor the caring that may have inspired Ms. Smith. She seems endearing enough to heed to, but I hope she understands that this article is the same as seeing a personal trainer eat a half dozen doughnuts.

So, to all you writers and personal trainers, know your craft. There is still time. smile

If I paid as much attention to my diet as I do to my grammar, the relative attractiveness of the word 'diet' would be irrelevant.

If Kelly is trying to reach the unknown audience within suite101, who knows where the best place is to start. I'm guessing a personal trainer would tailor a plan based on what's likely to work for the individual...in the language that individual understands. Maybe a personal trainer takes the weight out of one's wallet too but if the incentive of not wasting money works for you, why not? Why wait to lose weight? Can't find anything that works...even your own body...is looking for something else to blame.

The theory I understand is we have to eat better, not necessarily less, to lose weight. Use it or lose it...exercise more. For me, the increased activity relates to both weight loss AND increased efficacy of diabetic medication. Due to injuries, I can't do anything more vigorous than walking but I can keep walking right past any personal trainer eating doughnuts.

"Diet' is an ugly word coz it's been misappropriated. The more correct 'lifetime healthy eating plan' is a mouthful but 'diet' has been stolen by the billion dollar weight loss industry....like 'gay' has been stolen by the...I digress.

And it's still friction between the process and the program, the theory vs practice, for me.
