32 things not to say to a cop
This archived discussion is "read only".
» Dan_Ellsworth - Quite a collection. Only the beginning? 33. If an officer of the law should be so conventional as to ask you, "Where's the fire?", it is probably NOT wise to reply, "In your eyes, Officer."34. "I can't remember when I've seen a police car obeying the speed limit. Maybe you people should be leading by example." 35. "What [hic] sheems to be da plobrem, Ossifer?" 36. As Terra's representative to the Galactic Federation, I have diplomatic immunity. ====> This is fun -- in the safety of my own home. Thanks, Robert. -- posted by Dan_Ellsworth » GHolbrook - Re: Quite a collection. Only the beginning? In response to message posted by Dan_Ellsworth:"In your eyes"....LOL!!! Never tried that one. My best one so far has been at an Indiana weigh station. When the officer came out and asked me for my logbook, I replied without missing a beat, "Which one?" Not generally a good idea unless the cop in question is showing signs of intelligent life and appreciation for humor.Unless, you don't NEED that extra $500.00 floating around in your wallet. Another unwelcome comment toward members of the D.O.T. would be "I guess you couldn't pass that i.q. test to become a meter maid, huh?" That typically gets you pulled out of the truck, and gets your truck broken down into little bitty pieces that YOU get to put back together. Got pulled over by a deputy sheriff once. Insisted he call a REAL cop to write my ticket. When the sheriff got there, he was none too happy. Threatened to write me for several infractions, and jail me for wasting gov't time and impeding justice. I asked him(not really thinking) if he wasn't doing the same thing every day. Cost me a lot of money to keep Ohio from confiscating my license... OH...never try to convince the cop that you thought he wanted to race you to the state line... -- posted by GHolbrook » Dan_Ellsworth - Re: Re: Quite a collection. Only the beginning? For that matter, neither does Robert need our additions. You both know enough to get into trouble more ways than I can imagine. -- posted by Dan_Ellsworth » GHolbrook - Re: Re: Re: Quite a collection. Only the beginning? In response to message posted by Dan_Ellsworth:Hey, I don't get into trouble, pal, trouble gets into me!! :-) I can't help it if I like to make people smile, even if it gets me into som hot water now and again. Once in a while, I engage my mouth before making sure my brain is in gear... Had a barn fire today, my 1st barn fire. Got to put the airpack on and get down and dirty with a veteran firefighter in our department, doing a sort of "overhaul". We were peeling what was left of the tin roof back so the hose handlers could spray the hot spots underneath. Was quite interesting with 50mph wind gusts and horizontally driven snow. We looked like yellow and black popscicles. -- posted by GHolbrook » Smokediver - Re: Re: Re: Re: Quite a collection. Only the beginning? In response to message posted by GHolbrook:A response to Dans addage that Police cars are always going fast............It just seems that way, take the lights and stickers off and nobody would notice........happens all the time with the fire apparatus. If its not the persons house which is on fire the fire trucks are always "blowing through town" ,but if it is their house its "what took you guys so long?" But you made a good point Dan, if your in the public eye, people will always notice the little things. Thanks for stopping by and contributing to this discussion. You have a vast amount of knowledge to contribute to my topic. And to Greg, hang in there big guy, in a few months youll be the "veteran firefighter" showing some "newbie" the ropes. Keep up the good work and thanks for your continued support. -- posted by Smokediver » Smokediver - Quite a collection.
