» Dan_Ellsworth - Take the "outsiders" to school
Robert, I think I will look longer at the poem another time, though it reminds me there are other roles in life that should be honored by some respectful verse. But the present message is mainly to propose something that might be an article or a small group of articles, eventually:As a provider of emergency services, do you ever arrive on the scene and think (towards the untrained people already on the scene), "I wish you had __________", or maybe more agonizingly, "I wish you hadn't __________"? Maybe the only reason you didn't say it out loud was, "They're not trained; they don't know."
True, but maybe you can offer some general comments about what the untrained public should, and should not, do before you trained people arrive. We, the untrained, would like to make things a little better if we can in those critical minutes, and there's the nagging feeling that an uninformed and unfortunate action might make things worse. Maybe there's even three sets of things to say, "Do", "Don't", and "You'll have to use your own judgment on this one".

In response to Re: Take the "outsiders" to school posted by Smokediver:I think it's CM of the COI, but I don't speak "Suite" fluently. Anyway, your emergency services work gives you a few initials in your signature line, so you are not shut out anyway. As for cool -- well, it is if you can stand the work. But then, even a very busy person sometimes needs to be busy about something different at times, for a change.

Hi Robert. I'd love to hear more about your training. How you feel, what is expected, frustrations etc. Why don't you write a 'progressive' story consisting of 400 word articles about your fascinating journey?-- posted by pennywhitting
