» Dan_Ellsworth - Good work!

Emergency workers need warm hearts and cool heads -- the passion for doing the right thing, and the discipline to do the right thing. Your statement of priorities is very good. The point (for lifesaving) about not adding to the problem is excellent, and I could believe sometimes it would be hard for the untrained to understand. But when you're at the scene, responsible for firefighters and the public, it's not a popularity contest, but a matter of priorities, knowledge, discipline and character.

My life does not have that kind of test -- not lately, not so far -- but a firm knowledge of one's own priorities should be of value in the unexpected crises of our own lives.

Thank you for the article. Good ending.

Thanks, 'diver. It's not "my" topic any more, except that I hang around there with my "Emeritus" discussion and taking some part in the discussions. I passed it along to a Wisconsin Lutheran pastor, not much past 40, and I think the "kid" will do OK.

» jerrib - You provide

an important piece to life's puzzle, Robert. Glad there are folks around who understand what to do and when to do it. Good article.

Where would this world be without firefighters? In a sad state, I would imagine.

Look forward to your next article.

In response to You provide posted by jerrib:

I recently received an email stating something about long and cumbersome signature files. Yeah you Greg!!!!!! I say stand your ground, your sig files amoung hundreds of others are fine with me. With all these restrictions being imposed on writers, I can see a mass exodus forthcoming. It seems to me that instead of letting people be themselves, we here at the suite are adopting a form of government similar to that of the communist Soviet Union. If we want writers to stay and new ones to come aboard, we need to let the first amendment ring through and stop this nonsense. I have barely enough time to write articles and respond to discussions, let alone deal with all these changes and restrictions. I think a signature file is a way of writers to display their creativity and uniqueness.
