» HaleyThiele - Finally you reviewed a movie I have seen!

Finally you reviewed a movie I have seen! I just got back from seeing it ten minutes ago. I also liked the movie, but I did like the ending, even though I should have seen it coming. And my husband loved the ending(he will fight with you on that). I also thought Tim Roth did a good job, it is something different than what he normally does, but I thought he had the ape moves down well.

In response to message posted by HaleyThiele:

You have a great point about Tim Roth's ape moves, they were really realistic. Your hubby and I can arm wrestle about who's right about the ending. You hear that Matt?!?! I'm coming after you!! Ha, ha. Thanks for posting.

» AaronMLane - The Ending...

Lis',
I'll have to agree with you that the ending was a cinematic kick to the avacadoes. It took what was on its way to being a fairly decent remake (sorry "revisitation") and turned it into another Charlie's Angels or Lost in Space. All that the ending was missing was a CGI Gary Oldman monster rampaging through Washington and Marky Mark can't fight it off on his own, so that's when Crispin Glover comes in and lays the smack down Matrix style.
In Burton's defense, that ending was not his doing. It was not part of the screening version that he showed all the licensees shortly before release, and because of that, the ending is not in the graphic novel and other merchandise adaptations of the film. Fox tacked that ending on right before the release of the movie. Studios have a habit of doing that.
I'm working on hunting down a workprint of the film with Burton's original ending, to see how the movie is really supposed to end. If I find one, I'll let you know.
Later,
Aaron

» d0wntime - Is there a soul in there?

Alright, I've got to admit that the 5 minute tour of the city of the apes we got to see detracted from the films generally dark atmosphere. The image of a midget human wearing a silly hat and playing one of those little organs was pretty silly. And seeing tim roth peering intently down mark wahlberg's throat doesn't sound like a serious attempt at character development, but I liked that line. It was slick.
