» happyperson47 - Old black and white film - 30's or 40's

Hello all - sorry if I've put this in the wrong place.

I am after the name of a film. It is about a piece of paper with a curse written on it, and whoever has this paper gets chased by some huge demon / monster. Throughout the film, a person who has been given a book with this paper inside it tries to track down the person who gave it to him (apparently, the note can't be destroyed, and the person who has the paper won't give it to someone else for moral reasons). The only part remembered is that the monster was chasing a train.

» jonathan1966 - Old Movie Title

Dear All,

my wife and I saw a movie a few years ago. An old B&W, maybe from the 40's or 30's.

The plot was basically a new wife being brought to an old mansion, where she is haunted by the first wife, warning her that the husband is in fact a murderer. He threw her off the cliff to the rocks below.

It is not "Rebecca", nor "Blythe Spirit" nor "Woman/lady in White" - we've gone down those roads before. It was not a comedy. It was on TCM in Australia some 3 to 5 years ago.

I know it's a challenge, but I'd sure appreciate some ideas - it's driving us nuts!
