» ssparks007 - Fast Food

I feel that its up to the person to eat healthy or pig out. Fast food in my opinion is very convenient and if you are like me as millions of Americans are then you don't have time to cook when you have kids that have to be picked up. Restaurants are making their menu's more healthy so you don't have to eat lots of fat and you can choose a salad or something else that's healthy.Fast food restaurants are not all bad you just have to choose somewhere that has a healthy menu opposed to somewhere that has a menu high in fat and calories. In my opinion fast food restaurants are a must in our everyday lives because we are not in the 70's anymore where the women stay home and cook we are out at school, shopping, and being supervisors on our own jobs.

In response to Fast Food posted by ssparks007:

One point is that men can stay home and cook, it does not have to be a woman. Another point, is that no one necessarily has to stahomemw and prepare the meals. there are many ways to guarantee at leasoneen sit down family home cooked meal a week. Slow cookerspringng to mind.

I know that fast food is convenient and that people have allowed themselves to be very busy. Do you ask yourself why? Why you are so busy, what you you losing by being constantly in motion?

Fast food restaurants have broke up the bond between families. Families are more laid back. At fast food restaurants, you get your food quick & leave. People don't cook home cook meals like they use to. Parents be one way and the children another way. All you have to do is pick some food up quick and leave in a hurry. I rather have a home cook meal and enjoy my time with my family. People in today's time is more eager to be lazy and pick up weight, due to the fact of FAST FOOD RESTUARANTS!!!

» lavoies - The Slow Food Movement

Hi there.

Just wanted to comment on this topic since the topic for the paper I am currently writing made me find this website.

I am realistic about what we can accomplish with the limited amount of time that we have in this busy and hectic lifestyle since I work full time, am a full time student and also sit on a Board. However, I disagree with the last posting that Fast Food is the solution to this busy lifestyle.

I have two responses to this - a short term one and a longer term one. The short term one consists of making choices that make it easier for us to manage the busy times....like making large batches and freezing them, like getting "hubby" to take responsibility for cooking one night. The fast food frenzy has played a large part in a bigger problem of spending time together as a family and talking.

My comment about longer term....Why is it that we are so busy these days and what are we each doing on an individual basis that contributes to this? Have any of you heard about "The Slow Food Movement?" I enourage you to check it out.

I think its all about priorities. I feel a moral obligation to know where my food comes from, what is in it and although I am by no means a vegetarian, I want to reduce the chances that I am eating animals who have been unduly suffering just because our worldwide "demand" is high.
