» BettyM_4 - Betty Marsh Successful holidays and vacations in my famil Betty MarshSuccessful holidays and vacations in my family are had by planning for everyone's needs so that we can all have a good time. Fibro Mom has to be very honest about herself in this planning. What exactly is she going to be able to handle? Gracefully, I mean. When my college kids were toddlers, I typed up a camping list which is an antique by now...I won't part with it because it tells such a story. We've gone from kids blankets and tent to neck pillow and wrist splints. Instead of camping we stay at a time share condo. On vacations, Dad gets time off to play golf, Daughter aged l0 gets a couple of hours at the game arcade, and Mom gets a visit to the art show or museum, which we all enjoy. It's taken for granted now after 8 years of difficulty walking, that Mom's traveling any distance involves the wheelchair, a folding stool, a hiking stick and a cane. Admitting when I am tired or am just not able to do the next activity is part of my honesty with myself and my family. One of the difficult things about Fibro is its ups and downs. If we are in the habit of communicating on a daily basis - I'm having a BAD foot day or I'm doing really well this afternoon - then the lines of communication on holidays and vacations will already be in place. -- posted by BettyM_4 » Jausten - Thanks Betty, Actually my vacation was very relaxing, but my Thanks Betty,Actually my vacation was very relaxing, but my youngest son decided not to go so maybe that helped me. I did a lot of sleeping, playing with my nephew, and just enjoying time with my sister, brother-in-law, and my husband. The drive home was long and tiring, but I tended to sleep between major towns..*g Jausten -- posted by Jausten
