Hello my friends,
This was passed on to me by helpful friend, not sure if you've seen it so I thought I'd pass it on too. Seems theat this Dr. Bohr was either a little dishonest or maybe a little forgetful to state his "real" reason for getting his 2 minutes of fame on National Television!! Well, I guess the Compensation Board has to hire SOMEBODY lol.
Here's what I just received, hope it helps in explaining just WHY this man had no choice BUT to try and discredit our suffering, his job depends on it!
I think this info may be helpful to those who are responding to DATELINE regarding their segment on fibromyalgia. Please feel free to pass it along to any individuals or newsgroups or whoever else may find it useful.
I have done some background checking on Dr. Bohr. He is a featured speaker at an upcoming training seminar on "Workers Compensation" for Defense Research Institute (an organization of defense lawyers who represent insurance companies and businesses who are sued by people with fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome and repetitive stress injuries among others).

In other words, Bohr coaches lawyers on how to fight workers compensation claims from people with FM/CFS, etc.
Also, Bohr was quoted in the infamous WSJ 23 December 1998 editorial "Chronic DisabilityPayments" (see the RESCIND website:

I am confused. I read the material that "Mechanic" quoted. In reading Dr. Bohr's credentials, he specializes in Fibro, Cfs, etc. Why would a doc specialize in something he doesn't beleive exsists?Actually, I talked to several people who viewed the piece on Dateline. People who are not afflicted with this disorder. They were all of the same mind, it is real! There will always be some doctor playing devils advocate.
There will also always be news programs who take things out of context. I can't hellp but wonder if this is not the case. In reading those articles "Mechanic" quoted, they did not say he was going to debunk the FMS theory. He was there to explain what it was to everyone else.
I have learned the hard way not to judge to harshly, those I do not know.

Hi LadiesPlease don't get upset over this Dr.Bohr, to tell you the truth nobody listen to him anyway.He has been trying to discredit FM or try to for years. Like someone said on the board he has to make a living to.I have heard a few Dr laugh at him so really don't bother losing any sleep over it really.
I look at it this way the MORE he talks about it then I know someone is running scared out there could it be the Insurance Company???
With the Internet I don't think this guy has a chance. I don't watch anything on the TV anymore what I do is order any new tapes they have on guest speaker with any groups for our illness it helps me learn the right way.
I order the New's Letter from Quest in Ottawa-----( Canada) and there I get all my new's.
Please don't let this Dr. have the ability to upset you he's not worth the efford.Take care all. Tyson
