» Carol Wallace - Re: Re: Re: Re: Holiday blahs In response to message posted by tamara_peters:Now that I think back on it, I made that eggplant parmesan at my then fiance's apartment and he didn't have a vegetable peeler. That might have contributed to the difficulty. ;-) I have never been one of those people who can use a paring knife to peel things. My bread and butter pudding is French - it has a layer of caramelized sugar between layers of buttered bread, all covered with a custard except that the top rises and gets nice and crisp. And then all you do is pour some plain, unsweetened whipping cream over the warm pudding. It would be a snap to make except for that layer of caramel. I managed to get the majority of my Christmas shopping done today except for Roger's brother-in-law. And I'm pretty well pleased with my choices. My MIL has been having trouble with her eyes and yet loves to read, so I found this great page sized magnifier on a stand so she has her hands free and just has to look through this glass on an adjustable stand. And she wanted Chanel No. 5 so that part was easy. The best was a surprise - it seems that Roger forgot to pack along the high thread count sheets I bought for her last year - she's a sucker for designer names - so there they were, all ready for this year! The only fly in the ointment was that after I won all my bids and got ready to pay I found that our debit card was depleted - and it will take at least two days for the tranfer of funds. So no one will get their gifts on Christmas. Of course considering that I can't leave the house they should be happy to get them at all. I doublt I'll sleep through Christmas. I was at teh start of my kidney/bladder infection at Thanksgiving only I didn't quite realize it. You know how that goes - I figured it was a bit of a flare. ;-) -- posted by Carol Wallace
