Hi Deb, and thanks. smile I suppose it is somewhat easier for me now as my family is grown and self-sufficient. Hmmm, the daily stuff is still a challenge though. For me it's a matter of priority. Doing those things that can't be put of and putting off those things that can. Today, I simply cannot put off making out bills, which I hate, lol, so will make sure I tackle that at some point today.

My husband helps out a lot with the daily stuff in the house so that's a big help to me. But this is also something I try to do a little bit of every day so it doesn't get overwhelming by the end of the week. Of course, there are always things I mean to get to, that don't get done when they should, but if they're not relevant to health and happiness I just let them go.

Thanks Deb, this, plus the results of the poll, makes me realize I really should do that pacing article after all. I'm sure everyone's input would be a great help to us all.

Interesting - about things that must be done and those that can wait - it might almost be worhy making a sort of list, at least as far as household tasks go. It wouldn't work for anything else as we each have such different things that need doing - for Tanara and I the Suite stuff that must be done, for some work-related things - but there are probably some we have in common and could develop a priority system for.

Carol, that is a good idea. I realize now that I made a wrong assumption, in the last article, when I kind of glossed over pacing assuming we all knew the drill. I think a lot of that stems from hearing the word so much, but not really understanding what it entails. It really is a state of mind isn't it?

Hmmmm, I'm thinking a list that would have various categories could work. One that could be filled in individually. Categories like home, family, work, etc.? Maybe a ranking sytem of prioritizing, or a list of things that must be done, should be done - but can be put off, and things that don't need to be done, but are beneficial to health and happiness?

I think we'd almost have to fill in our own as we each may ave different priorities. Some people can't stand dust; oothers can easily ignore that but can't stand clutter, or dishes left in the sink. Certain things in their mind MUST be done; others turn out to be less essential if we are truly faced with the need to cut back.

On a daily basis the things I must do include keeping the sink area clean, wiping the counter, feeding the cats, cleaning the litter box and whatever other small straightening up I can do to keep clutter down to a low roar; something must be done about dinner and cleaning up after - those are the absolutes, On a weekly basis we add things like laundry and grocery shopping and putting all that away, and maybe sweeping up the obvious places, tossing bleach into the toilets (which makes them practically self-cleaning) - that's the main drill.

Yup, I think we'd all have to fill in our own for sure. I think I'll work on another article for this and see what I can come up with. I did actually start one last month then decided to switch tracks to the reasons why we don't practice pacing daily rather than the particulars of it. Thanks for the input. smile

In response to message posted by tamara_peters:

I didn't manage the pacing thing very well at all for the end of term.
Now I am sick, burnt out and miserable!
Shucks!!!
Sooooo glad to be on holidays and to catch up.
I think I prefer my 'online family' to my off line one.
"You guys can't tell me to 'go and make you coffee'."
Your book news sounds exciting Carol!!!!!

Hi Jo, good to see you. smile Umm, would you mind fetching me a cup of coffe? ;-) Sorry to hear you are sick, burnt out, and miserable. Sometimes pacing is good in theory, but actually difficult to manage when you get right down to it isn't it? I hope you are able to enjoy your holiday and take some time to recuperate. Take care.. Hope to see you again soon. Yup, I know what you mean about our 'online family'. Me too!

Hugs,
Tamara smile

Big fluffy dressing gown, and fluffy black socks!!!!
heater stocked up?
Yup - this is the life!!!
Speaking of get well soon!
I am going around pertinent (and not so pertinent topics)at the moment seeing how many people would like to be involved in the generation of email cards.
I call them recoverEcards

I would see the fun as being confined to editors I have some students that are rearing to go and I am sure there are some readers out there who would like to have fun?

Talk soon,
Jo

Hi Jo, glad to hear you are loving the flu? ;-) LOL Think it might be telling you to slow down a little and take care of yourself? Sorry for lecturing..

Hey, the recoverEcards sound like a great idea. Let me know if I can help in some way. I'm not artistically inclined, but may be able to write something?

As ususal, I'm a little behind lately. I think I may be taking the 'taking it easy' bit just a little too far now. LOL

Got your e-mail and will respond as soon as I get caught up.

Hugs,
Tamara smile
