In response to Good Morning! posted by tamara_peters:

Actually .... I only joined here in January of this year ... and I remember only too well how confusing I found THIS discussion software.

I guess its whatever it is you are used to. Here was the first time I used this type of discussion software. I've always been used to variations on the software on the new site.

And the way it is used is totally different than one LONG thread.

Suggestion would be to take the time to actually READ the "How To" post in the new forum under General Discussion.

A quick example ... say I log in today and I want to post something that is totally about me and what I might have just had happen to me.

I would Post a New Topic ... and write to my hearts content. Then ... when other members visit ... they can either choose to respond to my post or any of the other posts ... or if they don't feel like it, they start their own New Topic.

On the bottom of each page there is a "legend" of what each of the graphics mean. Whether there is a new unread post in a forum or in a thread etc.

With the new software I installed earlier today ... you can also click on the Main Options drop down menu and choose View New Posts. That will list all the Topics that have new posts since the last time you visited.

I don't know about any of you guys ... but with me I have days that I have trouble coping with anger & venting & ranting & raving. We all have those days that we just NEED to ... and thats alright. But in the new site ... there is a Forum where people can go to do that ... the "Rant and Rave" forum. So, now, when people actually get used to how this new software works ... they can post their ventings in that forum ... and the rest of us can choose when we are best able to cope with the feelings that come out in those posts and respond to them at that time. Here, you are basically into the middle of those posts before you even realize it ... and if you are sensitive on that day it can knock you on your keester before you even know it.

Or ... the benefits of having a joke or Humor forum. If you need a chuckle ... you can go at any time to that forum and give yourself a smile.

Same thing with the Inspirational forum etc.

Each has its own purpose. Unfortunately, there is a "learning curve" going from here to there. Just like there is a learning curve going from that type of forum to this kind of discussion software.

Just my 2 cents for today
Peter

That is what drives me nuts. I didn't know what I was doing and vented over in the Inspiration forum. Why so many different forums and not just one like here?

I had no idea where to go or what to do. LOL

Tamara - I know that Copyright Infrigment is illegal regardless of online or magazine, I was just saying that there is not much a person can do with online writing and things because "we" don't truly have all access to functions to fix the problem. I was only suggesting that you could simply write a note/post explaining that you had nothing to do with the change and confusion...that is allsmile

Well I am off to another busy day at the school...hopefully I will get the new home figured out. I know that I post...LOL but I truly don't know what I am doing:-0

Have a great day!

Hmmm ... I think I just explained why the different forums ;-)

As mentioned ... there is a short explanation on how things work on the new forum.

The main thing to keep in mind ... it is NEW to most of you from here. So don't expect it to be the same. As you all kept telling me when I first started here ... don't worry about it ... you will get used to it. And I think when you do get used to it ... you will like it a lot better than here.

Just don't anyone expect it to be the same type of format. The same people, the same caring & support ... just not the same format ;-)

Take care
Peter

» Kirin - New forum

In response to Re: Re: Re: Good Morning! posted by pmhoran:

Peter, I love the new forum, I found it very user friendly after I took the time to read the directions. Im not a great fan of "changes" either and I understand the ladies who experience difficulties, I really do but I'm sure with time as with this forum they will come to enjoy it as much if not more than Suite.
With me it's a personality thing I guess, I'm very much a 'compartmentalizer' so the different subjects within the forum are right up my alley, I find it less confusing dealing with one issue at a time and being able to focus on the topic rather than having to switch from one subject to another, I'm not that quick on the uptake and often got lost when I read several posts and rather than sound like an idiot did not participate in the discussions. Anyway Peter, thank you and Tamara for all your wonderful work to keep our little group together. Very very much appreciated.

Thanks Kirin ;-) At least on the new forum the smilies actually show as smilies hehehehehe

It seems yesterday was a turning point for a lot of the members. Ones that were practically "hating" it the previous couple days were suddenly posting that they were getting used to it and actually were liking it ... a lot. hahahahaha

Like I mentioned in a previous post ... it just takes a bit of getting used to ... because its different.

That being said. I have been on this discussion group 11 months now ... and I will admit that although I have gotten used to it, I still don't care for the style of it much. Even after this much time I still found the large numbers of posts usually on different topics confusing.

Take care
Peter

Hey Everyone:

There's also another added bonus at our "new home".......no advertising!!

Peter: One thing seems to be gone from there, or else I have missed it since it was revamped. We used to have the option of newest or oldest posts showing. Now, that seems to be missing.

In response to Re: Re: New forum posted by Loni:

I am finally getting use to the new forum, but Loni I agree with you about the posts.

Why is it that I cannot find the newest post or even the oldest posts? There are times I see only "one" post at a time and other times I see posts from days ago...it doesn't seem to be in order.

So, this makes it difficult to keep up with the discussion in the order that it is suppose to be:-0

Peter - you are doing a great jobsmile And it is more fun and I am liking it a lot as you mentioned before in your recent post heresmile I knew you were talking about me...ha ha ha ha...LOL

Anyways I will play around with it until I could figure it out...Like Don's Christmas Tree...it was there a minute ago and now it is gone:-0

Well I am off to make some cupcakes.

Actually when I first joined here they had several discussions going on and it was hard to keep up. I really like the last version Peter put up. Just tiresome. Joyce

» henra123 - Re: Fibromyalgia and New Drug

My mother has had fibro for some time. Her doctor has put her on everything under the sun. Recently, she was put on Cymbalta. She seems to be doing great so far but I was wondering if anyone had taken this drug before. If so what can I tell her about it that doesn't come from the company's PR line? Thanks for the help!

Hi,
My Dr. started me on Cymbalta 30mg for one week & then increased it to Cymbalta 60mg every day. Cymbalta is an antidepressent which studies have shown decrease leg pain associated with neuropathys. I take it in the morning because my doctor said it may cause insomnia if taken at night. (who the heck needs more problems sleeping?) It can take up to 6 weeks to get the maximum benifits.
