» tamara_peters - Hi Everyone!

Thanks to Peter for discovering where our Fibro Friends web site recommendations ended up. If you click on my name, found only in posts, which goes to my profile, you'll find them there. How absurd!

Oh, along with all the topics that I no longer manage anymore. Argh!

Looks like someone's been messing around with all the links. Some have been renamed, rewritten, removed, rearranged, recategorized, categories renamed, a few new links added, and so on , and so on.

I'm sorry, but it really ticks me off that I spent so much time adding every individual link only to have someone else take my hard work and manipulate it as if it was their own. :O

It's supposed to look more "professional", but honestly, it is not.

Sheesh! Hope I'm not going into a rant every time I come here now. sad

Now I wish I'd just deleted everything when I had the chance.

*taking deeeeep breath* ;-)

Anyway, I guess I haven't heard that song yet, Tery and Don, but I'll have to keep my ears open for it.

Yeah, I know, Don. Thanks for the lecture. LOL

Peter, I saw some of that same footage, which is why I never go shopping on that day. Much easier to sit here and order online. smile

Lots of places are having free shipping and handling, which is a bonus, as well.

Glad to hear you're doing better. Hope the new dose of Lyrica ends up making you feel terrific. smile

I had a bad spell last year and threw out our artificial tree. I wanted to go back to using a real one. Argh! Now I'm kicking myself 'cause I could have it all set up.

It wasn't the best looking tree, but once it had enough stuff on it you couldn't even tell. LOL

Hope everyone's having a great day..

Huuugs,
T

I never saw the movie, The Christmas Shoes. I am going to have to keep my eye out for it this season. Don, if you happen to hear or see its listing somewhere, please let me know here at fibrofriends. I would love to see the movie.

Tamara - I know how annoying and frustrating this is with Suite and its changes, but please don't ever think it was a waste. You did a great job and many viewers did read your articles, you helped a lot of people throughout the years and in life we have changes and things do move on. One thing about online writing is that we truly don't have control over things because we don't have access to the website functions therefore there is not much we can do about it. That is why I recommended the blog to you...you have total control.

People will find your articles and they will continue to read it. People are actually posting at my women abuse column still and that poll is still up and they are responding to the poll. Funny thing, huh?

We still have access and functions to post at the discussions. You can always be a part of the discussions within the articles that you've written. It does stink, I know. The Women Abuse column was very important to me as well.

Just look at it this way, you did a good deed for a long time and now it is time to move on. Try something new, find a new home where you can write articles...I am not Preaching, just trying to make you feel bettersmile

It is a rainy day here today. Watching movies, still in my pajamas and I just got done watching Madagascar with my son. Now we are going to watch the movie Robots. We saw it in the movies, but he had gotten the movie as a gift from someone. ROBOTS is really a good movie...I was surprised when I saw it.

Tonight a movie called Silver Bells is on right after Cold Case. I love that show, Cold Case. It is one show my husband and I watch together LOL.

My in-laws left today and I just hung out in my jammies all day and did absolutely nothing. I tell ya, I needed this day after company. All the company and being busy still makes me very tired especially after they leave.

Well gotta make the Popcorn and start the movie. Talk to you all tomorrow.

Hi Terry and Tamara, I hope all this gets straightened out soon. After the New Year, maybe we can figure out someway to make the FM discussion group more accessible. It hurts when all your hard work seems to be discounted.

The Christmas Shoes I have not seen, but (my mind is very foggy) I think someone from this county wrote it.

Am having a hard time, crying and very fatigued and sleeping a lot. Also a little woozy or dizzy. I am so tired of this.

Peter, when you get through cleaning, hop on down here and get busy. Reminds me of a man who never washed his car for years and finally one day his teenagers got tired and washed it. One of the rear fenders fell off. All that was holding it on was mud and rust.

My view of our webpage has changed. I fooled around with the acessibility settings as I wanted larger print. I now have huge captions in flourescent green, purple, red and blue on a jet black background. No dull mustardy or beige colors now.

My computer is wonky. I can't open the suspect mail and now a new folder suddenly appears with "junque mail" and contains email that covers July through Today. Don't know what happened.

I went to medicare. gov and ran my husbands medications through and got printouts of what each prescription plan would cost us for the year: prices ranged from 1450 to 3764. I couldn't believe that there would be such a wide range. I can understand the prescription coverage
but worry that people who are not computer literate will be out of pocket more money than they need to.

But they did mess up how to understand medigap coverage. One doctors group took out a huge one page add stating which insurance plans they took and which they did not. Wish the others would do the same.

I have decided on my husbands prescription plan but not whether to do a medigap policy or a hmo and which company. I would really like to go with the company that has a hmo which can provide transportation to the doctor as we have no public transportation here. They also send you a letter reminding you of flu shots, etc. At least , they seem to know some of the problems of the older population. However, several of our doctors are not on this plan.

The big problem is a lot of companies dropped the prescription part of their medigap policies and dowgraded the coverage for hospital and medical benefits at the same time.

Now I am ranting.

Hugs to all, Joyce

Peter...I'm trying to convince Jeanne that this $20 5 foot tree we saw would be perfect for us. She even admits that it is amazingly real. We can't afford $30-60 for a real tree this year that will be gone after the holiday.

The Christmas Shoes

It was almost Christmas time, there I stood in another line
Tryin' to buy that last gift or two, not really in the Christmas mood
Standing right in front of me was a little boy waiting anxiously
Pacing 'round like little boys do
And in his hands he held a pair of shoes

His clothes were worn and old, he was dirty from head to toe
And when it came his time to pay
I couldn't believe what I heard him say

Chorus:
Sir, I want to buy these shoes for my Mama, please
It's Christmas Eve and these shoes are just her size
Could you hurry, sir, Daddy says there's not much time
You see she's been sick for quite a while
And I know these shoes would make her smile
And I want her to look beautiful if Mama meets Jesus tonight

He counted pennies for what seemed like years
Then the cashier said, "Son, there's not enough here"
He searched his pockets frantically
Then he turned and he looked at me
He said Mama made Christmas good at our house
Though most years she just did without
Tell me Sir, what am I going to do,
Somehow I've got to buy her these Christmas shoes

So I laid the money down, I just had to help him out
I'll never forget the look on his face when he said
Mama's gonna look so great

Sir, I want to buy these shoes for my Mama, please
It's Christmas Eve and these shoes are just her size
Could you hurry, sir, Daddy says there's not much time
You see she's been sick for quite a while
And I know these shoes would make her smile
And I want her to look beautiful if Mama meets Jesus tonight

Bridge:
I knew I'd caught a glimpse of heaven's love
As he thanked me and ran out
I knew that God had sent that little boy
To remind me just what Christmas is all about

Repeat Chorus

http://www.independentbands.com/cd/newso... If you go to this site you can hear a sample.

Tery...Just checked and it doesn't appear that CBS will be playing the movie this year. Their site for the film is from last year.

Cold Case was great wasn't it? I liked Silver Bells too. Damn those Hallmark commercials get to me!

Joyce...The Justice Dept. announced last Wednesday that they were cracking down first on the scam artists and then on the legitimate insurance companies putting out false information to sell their coverage.

I am so sorry that we can't have a halfway decent president. I am worried about who our choices will be next time around. Bush is a bust but I cringe when I think what Kerry might have done...or Al Gore!!!

Our government is a complete mess now.

Don .... you worry about your choices for government???? It sounds like later today we will find out if our Minority Liberal government is going to fail or not. But it prabably will. That means we get campaigning throughout Dec and beginning of January and go to the polls about Jan 16th.

Oh Joy oh bliss. Our choices ... the Liberal Party who have been wracked with scandals generated by the previous leader. The Conservative Party ... which is, no matter what they call themselves, the Reform Party ... and whose leader is so much like Bush its scarey. If he had his way we would literally be back in the 19th Century and making war at every opportunity. Then there is the NDP (the National Democratic Party) ... who have a pretty good leader ... but I'd never wish for them to be in power. In opposition I think they would be pretty good ... but not governing the whole country. There is the Bloc Quebecois ... but they only represent Quebec. And a mish-mash of other lesser special interest parties ... that sometimes have a rep elected but most times not.

In my book ... I don't want to vote for ANY of them. But I would rather go with "the devil" I know ... even though they have been in power for the last 12 years.

One thing I do NOT like ... that all this campaigning is going to happen mostly before & during the Holiday Season. Its a time for family & love ... not bickering & mud slinging by our politicians. I have a funny feeling this election will become REAL nasty.

Anyway ... talk about going off on a tangent. Sheesh !!!!

Well ... my cleaning plans for yesterday quickly went all to heck in a handbasket. My mother arrived unexpectedly ... and when she learned of my plans decided to quickly take over. Didn't matter what I wanted to accomplish ... she had her own plans. So the only thing that got done that I wanted done is ... the dusting & vacuuming. So ... instead of taking my laundry into the laundromat today ... as planned .... I am going to have to spend it doing the windows & washing the venetian blinds. Grrrrrrr !!!!!

I appreciated her "help" ... but she decided a bunch of stuff had to be done that I did not feel needed to be done yet. AND ... fool that I am ... I totally exhausted myself trying to do things at her speed (which was something like Warp 9) instead of doing things at my speed which I feel would not have worn me out as quick ... if at all. I had to stop a couple hours before she decided to ... because my legs started giving out on me and they hurt like blazes.

I am going to have to watch it today. Legs are still not as good as they could be ... but think I can manage the windows & blinds OK as long as I pace myself. Another benefit of a small house ... not that many windows hahahahaha.

So ... the laundry I WAS going to do today ... hopefully I will be able to do tomorrow. I better do it tomorrow ... I am quickly running out of clothes to wear hahahaha. Trouble is ... I had planned to do my monthly shopping tomorrow ... so will have to now do laundry, shopping AND go up to the dump in order to catch up. Really ticks me off when someone or something interrupts a schedule I have laid out for myself. It doesn't bother me if I have to reschedule things because of the way I feel ... just hate it intensely when an "outside" force interfere's.

I guess Mother thought since I "surrendered" and gave into her yesterday ... that I wouldn't mind her deciding what else needed to be done and when. That was the last straw. I told her I loved her and I appreciated all she had accomplished yesterday BUT I told her to KNOCK IT OFF. I told her things would get done ... ON MY TIMETABLE ... NOT on hers. I reminded her that I AM DISABLED and that I CAN'T DO THINGS like she can ... so to stop trying to force me to. That this is MY HOUSE not hers and things will get done when I feel I can do them ... not before ... and definitely NOT just because she thinks it should be done.

She comes back with "but you are on all those medications ... and they make things "normal" for you. Right??" Aaarrrrggghhhh !!! I again explained that the meds I take help things ... A BIT ... but I am no where near "normal". I put this face I wear on for her benefit. If I let how I truly felt show ... she would start worrying about me all the time and that wouldn't help either of us. So I try to keep this "everything is alright" face on whenever she ... or anyone else is around.

I doubt if what I said sunk in. Its my mother after all ... she hears what she wants to hear and discards the rest. She just doesn't get it that at 75 she has about 10 times the energy that I have. She can walk for miles without a problem ... my legs shut down after a block or so. She just DOESN'T GET IT ... and neither does the rest of the family ... for the most part. Double ... Aaaaaarrrrrgggghhh !!!!

Oh well ... guess we all experience the same thing or different forms of the same thing. At least during my "tirade" I kept things civil and my voice regular ... trying to just explain things ... not yell them at her (like I wanted to :-))

Hopefully the rest of the week will go as planned. ;-)

Take care
Peter

Thanks, Tery. I needed that. LOL

You're absolutely right. I do have no control over what's happening and I DO need to move on.

That said: I hope you're all up to a move. We were going to wait until after the new year, but the sooner the better, I think.

Anyway, Peter and I have made a new home for us. Well, actually, Peter's done ALL the work so far. I hope to jump in and get my feet wet as soon as I get the courage. LOL

And just as soon as he gives the okay we can pack our bags and move in. smile

And what I would really like is for everyone to have a voice in what they would like added for content. We'll talk about that later once we offically make the move, though, okay?

Glad you're getting a chance to relax with all of your company gone now, Tery.

Joyce, I did get a reply from Joy and this is what she said:

"To my knowledge names were not, nor ever should be, removed from articles or topics, but we have gone with real names as opposed to email names for the sake of professionalism so if you are doing a search that is what you should use. If names have come off completely that is an error and will be corrected immediately. Could you check and get back to me so that I can notify our webmaster tomorrow if this needs to be addressed? This is your intellectual property and no one wishes to disassociate your authorship from your copyright and work. Thanks for the note, Joy"

I replied that ALL names had in fact been removed from ALL fibro topics and articles, and every one was a "real" name, NOT an e-mail name.

Now we'll see if it does get corrected or not.

The only problem I have with that now is that some authors used e-mail/pen names, rather than their own, because they wished to remain anonymous.

I know of one in particular that I'd better check out to make sure that didn't happen to hers.

Sadly, I don't believe there is any way to make this thread more accessible now. It is what it is; archived material.

Yes, it does hurt, but I'm at the point now where I need to move on. What's done is done. sad

Hopefully, this slammed door will lead to a better open one. smile

I'm so sorry you're having such a difficult time of it, Joyce. I sure does all get tiresome doesn't it.

Good grief! I don't wonder there's so much confusion about those plans. I'd probably be tearing my hair out about now. :O

Ah, jeez, Don.. Thanks for the cry. sad It gave me goose bumps.

Yup, a complete mess for sure, and the alternatives don't look good. :O

Peter, sounds like your government's in just as much of a shambles as our own.

It's pretty sad isn't it when we feel it's better to go with a known evil rather than with an unknown one. That's how I usually feel as well.

Yup, I'm sure we all experience very similar things with our own family members to some degree or another. Even when they mean well, they still just don't get it. sad

I think I was wrong about the links thing yesterday. I took another look, and discovered that there are four groupings of web links, one for each fibro topic, and the one I was checking out wasn't for Fibro Friends.

At least we know where the links are now so we can grab them. smile

» Skull13 - Politics is unavoidable part of the holidays...

Peter...I hear ya. Politics though is interwoven into the holiday season. All politicians want to be seen in positive lights this time of year and they get positively maudlin (NO offense Maudy!) this time of year. Fortunately there are enough scandals to remind us of what rat bastards they really are.

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 28 - "Representative Randy Cunningham, a Republican from San Diego, resigned from Congress on Monday, hours after pleading guilty to taking at least $2.4 million in bribes to help friends and campaign contributors win military contracts."

Sounds like a typical time I used to have with my mother back when I lived at home.

Joyce, I can't wait either. We'll have to be a patient for just a little longer, though.

That site is experiencing a problem at the moment. Hopefully, it's be short-lived. I'll post the url and all as soon as it is.

My bags are already packed! LOL

Isn't that the truth, Don. Argh!

The Suite tech person just emailed me to let me know my name, which had been mistakenly deleted from their date base, Hmmmm?, had been restored.

When I just checked, though, I saw that my name had been restored, BUT, it had replaced all the rightful previous authors without recognizing them, that I'd adoped their topics, AND, every guest author's name was replaced with my own.

AAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHGHHHHHHHHHH!

Hope they have fun straightening that mess out!

Also, take a look at the mess they made of this page - http://www.suite101.com/articles.cfm/fib...

The article descriptions are all messed up and HTML is hanging out where it shouldn't be.

Good grief!

Oh, well! Not my problem anymore, right?

Although, I wish now I hadn't had them restore my name and have it associated with that mess.

Oh, and there's the fact that I could be charged with copyright infringement, or worse, plagiarism, if the rightful author's names are not restored. :O

Richard just called, he's coming back from visiting his uncle in Maine Med, who he thought just had fluid on his lung, but they told him he has throat cancer. sad
