Happy Thanksgiving to everyone in the USA.

Hope you all have a fantastic and pain free day.

Joyce ... if you have a huge amount of food you can't really use ... maybe think about donating it to your local "soup kitchen". I am sure they would appreciate it ... especially today :-D

Take care
Peter

Tamara: So glad you were able to check in with us. Also doing the same here.

That Fibromyalgia III probably means it's the third batch of this discussion; but newbies wouldn't know that, so why did the name get changed?? Who knows what they thought.

Don, that story about Jennifer only re-affirms my belief in second opinions. Those Drs. just don't get it....cancer, ANY cancer, does NOT respect age!! My dept. at work lost a wonderful woman just because her Pap test was sent to a lab where they overworked their personell, and her cancer was missed. She also was in her mid- to late thirties....way too young to lose her life that way. By the time it was found, probably a year later from the first test, she was already in stage 4, too late to save her. She lived about 2 to 2 1/2 years after that. She fought brave and hard, and was such a good person.

Peter: Good idea about the extra food, but in many places, they cannot accept it. In my state, even catered leftover food from a wedding cannot be donated. It is actually against the law here!! Such a waste, too. Some things just don't make any sense, and this is one of them.

Here's another senseless law: Know why the dry cleaners have paper put on the hangers that your clean clothes are on? Not to advertise their business, but because it's the law! It isn't considered safe or sanitary to put your clean clothes on new hangers. Go figure...... And yet, the stores can re-use their hangers for the next new load of clothing that comes in. Geez, Louise.

Your friend sounds like a very thoughtful, generous person. You don't hear too much about people like that these days.

Marilyn: Sounds like you need that mini-vacation. Maybe there will be a surprise waiting for you when you return. Nothing like happy grandkids to give you a lift of your spirits.

Tery: Didn't know you don't really care for meat. There's other things out there, and the main focus should really be our thanks, anyway. Food is secondary, although we just can't get by without celebrating without food, whether it be a family birthday, the 4th of July, a tailgate party, or whatever. It brings people together.

It's getting too quiet in here again....and now the days get busy, starting with this week of Thanksgiving.

Had the colonoscopy done yesterday. Don't remember too much about it except that it was fast. Dr. found and removed one polyp, so that means a return visit in another 3 years.

Today, we go out to dinner with my sister. I just didn't feel up to the idea of cooking a big dinner this year, and really would rather have just stayed home today. But my sister has this notion that every holiday has to be celebrated with a gathering, no matter what or how many. The only ones she leaves alone is Valentine's day & Memorial day.

Going to make a couple more loaves of that cranberry bread and give one to my sister. Later, after we return home from dinner, I'll make some more apple bread too, and finally get to taste that one as well. There's an eggnog bread in the works too...will probably do that tomorrow.

Very cold and windy here. No snow, and the sun is out.

Take care, everyone. Enjoy your day.

(((( Hugs )))) Loni

So good to see some posts today!

Tamara I understand how you must feel about the way Suite went about ridding itself of everyone. Must have been like a slap in the face after all the work you have put into our friends site here. I will follow wherever all go.. smile

Enjoy your lovely sounding Thanksgivings dinner, that is my style..simply, good and quick clean-up. :-)

Don scary stuff! Sure does show how we just can't trust everything that is thrown at us...we are responsible for our own health and have to fight to get the best help and answers.

Hope Jeanne is okay after her trip back to her father's passing.

Joyce that is just downright mean to not come for dinner at the last minute like that! Hope they are not invited back anytime soon.sad

Sorry you are suffering from a cold.

I am not going away until at least Saturday now because there are no rooms to be had at the inns down in Kelowna. There is a huge conference to do with Indian Affairs so this is why no rooms. Anyways I spent last night coughing and hacking having to use my inhalers, cough syrup and blowing my nose. I always end up with something when I decide to go away...maybe I bring it on myself because I get all stressed out even though I want to go so badly.

Anyways the motel is being shown today and with my probs last night I guess it was meant to be. Thankfully I didn't tell the kids I had decided to come today.

Loni glad that the colonoscopy is all over with and it was fast. Pleased that you are taking good care of yourself.

Hope you are having a good Thanksgivings Dinner!

Maybe Peter and I should join all of you "down there" for another turkey dinner. Hey..what you think Peter, I will pick you up on the way...LOL!

Well better get going and make this place more presentable and take a cold pill or something. Beautiful day out there and started out very frosty which was pretty too.

Talk to you all later on, hugs to all, M smile

» Skull13 - Happy Shopping Day!

Joyce...Sorry your "friends" bailed on you. That is just wrong. I'm sure there were many times you didn't feel up to doing something with them and went along with them anyway.

Peter...Actually, one of the new Sit-Coms, "How I met Your Mother," mad fun of donating at the last minute. Many people don't realize that last minute donations are completely unwanted...they can't be used and often get in the way. This include people who just show up to volunteer. Our local Salvation Army did a bit on the local news saying that they had all the volunteers they needed but would always appreciated donations of money or food...the later starting the day AFTER the holiday!

Loni...Yes, you always need a second opinion on cancer and any serious illness. Doctors are almost human and make mistakes!

Hope dinner was a success with Sister.

Divine Miss M...Thanks. Jeanne did well. Not only made dinner but baked a pie for her and Carlos. Talked to all her siblings...something she wouldn't normally have done as they often don't talk at the holidays.

Hope one and all had a great day.

» tamara_peters - Good Morning!

In response to Happy Shopping Day! posted by Skull13:

And now, to add insult to injury, I see that they've removed my name from my archived material; topic, articles, etc.. That was NOT supposed to happen. :O

Just another lie we were told, I guess.

Well, our son ended up coming over for Thanksgiving. His girlfriend has gone to her parents for a week. He was supposed to go up Wed., for her birthday, but the weather was to crappy.

Yesterday, it started off snowing, turned to sleet, torrential rain, very windy, and to top it all off we had thunder and lightning. Argh!

Along with the lobstah stew we had rock crabs, and a salmon loaf that I threw together the last minute. Not traditional for sure, but good nontheless.

I have to admit that I missed the "traditional" leftovers last night. sad

Don, thanks for the breast cancer info. Since my mother died of breast cancer, at the same age I am now, my new doc wants me to have a mammogram asap.

I'm not surprised about lobstah being on the native menu, especially along the coast.

Joyce, sorry about your friends. That's sooooo not cool! I sure hope you got to enjoy your day despite the set back.

Thanks, Peter. Hope you day was pain-free as well.

Thanks, Loni. I believe the name was changed because way back when I adopted the previous Coping with Fibro topics we changed them to Coping with Fibro I and II.

I see now that we're call Fibromyalgia III, the Coping topics are now Fibrmyalgia I and II, and the Fibromyalgia: A Family Affair topic is Fibromyalgia IV. Confused yet? LOL

Yup, some of our archived material is still there, but who's going to be able to find it. sad

Glad to hear the colonoscopy didn't find anything more than one polyp.

Very cold and windy here as well. Makes me so not want to go out today, but I have grocery shopping and errands to run.

Expect snail mail in the near future. smile

Hey, Mare.. Yes, that's exactly how it feels.

And every time I turn around now they're rubbing salt in the wound.

I also had more than a few FWs, who'd been here more years than us, who literally lost years worth of work.

If they had honored the contract, and given us the full 30 days to retrieve our work, it wouldn't have been quite so bad.

End of rant! ;-)

Yup, it was simple, good, and soooo easy to clean up. LOL

Hey, did you ever see my post asking about your meat pies? I'd really like the recipe if you wouldn't mind.

Sorry you didn't get to go on your trip. Hopefully, you'll feel much better by tomorrow, though.

Hi Joyce, sounds like you're in the cold temps as well. Looks like old man winter's not far away.

Hmmm, don't think I've ever eaten an artichoke.

Guess I'd best get dressed and go do those errands and grocery shopping. *sigh*

No Black Friday shopping for me. I tried that just once, and that sure was enough.

Huuugs to All,
T smile

» tamara_peters - Just a note

Took a quick look at the other fibro topics, and my name's been removed from all of them.

Took a look at other archived topics in the "sections" and didn't see anyone elses name had been removed.

Hmmmm! What the he-double-l is up with that?

Maybe I'm being too vocal? Oh well!

Mare, I meant to say thanks to you as well. I'm sure we'll figure this all out after the holidays, and come the new year.

Maybe a new year and a fresh start? smile

Hugs,
T

Joyce - sorry about your friends that didn't show up. Peter offered a great idea!

Tamara - I know! My Celebrating Life column's Name was changed!! And my Women Abuse column Name was changed as well! Argh!

What comes around goes around.

Loni - I eat meat, but not a lot. I am not a big beef eater at all:-)

Don - The Three Village sounds familiar, but I lived so far out East that I hardly went to Stonybrook only to the hospital:-)

Thanksgiving was good and filling! I have a Traditional Thanksgiving and an Italian Christmas with lots of fish:-)

Tamara - as long as we could be found that is what counts. The URL is still the same for all the articles and columns.

Maybe you could put a note in your blog. Even though people don't respond, you'd be surprised how many people look at the blog:-)

Having leftovers tonight for dinner! Lots of gravy and mashed potatoes.

Hope all is well with everyonesmile

» zhann - FIBROMYALGIA: INVISIBLE PEOPLE NOW?

In response to Just a note posted by tamara_peters:

Hi Tamara, bummer about the removal of the names but I noticed that Cynthia, Amber and Barb's names were removed as well from their articles. Anyone in this particular topic had their name removed but not any other topic that I looked at. Only way I could tell who wrote what was to look at the discussion below. Wonder if someone is planning on writing a book and will use the items. Hard to find some of the other topics I visited. At least ours makes sense: Health Fibromyalgia. Just hard to tell what is current.

I may just print out the articles and see if I can attribute the articles to the author.

Thanksgiving: Power went off 4 times, fire alarm went off but not fire, sick as a dog, got the Christmas presents I bought wrapped.

» zhann - You hoo

Has everyone gone to sleep with so much turkey.
or were you trampled shopping. I will put the extra food in the freezer tomorrow. Can't contribute the food as it has to be prepared in a liscnesed kitchen.

Slept most of the day.

Have to get some pictures framed for an art show, fill out applications for hubby to get insurance, figure out what is wrong with computer and get my bills paid and all items filed away in case either me or hubby has to have some serious intervention/surgery; hope not, but need to get this done.

See you all tomorrow.
