In response to message posted by energynow:
Given the fact that you're not alone in not being able to access the old thread - maybe it's time to consider making this a continuation of the old one and using it. Maybe that old thread is just too large and some computers can't handle it for some reason. Notice that Joyce got in here but can't use the old one either - and I'll ber the same holds true for Marilynn.

A self-makeover is kind of fun, isn't it, Joyce? I'm not sure why but it seems to perk up my spirits when I do that - maybe it's a symbol of trying to cast off the old, tired me and be reborn as someone with more vitality? The redo has to be mainly for us - as so few of us go out enough for many other people to appreciate it. ;-)

Barbe - I know what you mean about being tired of being tired. Most people get a good rest and the tiredness flees - all more rest seems to do for us is make us more tired. Sigh.

Bjj - I learned a little trick that has been invaluable - I've only lost my keys once in over 5 years and that was in extraordinary circumstances. I have them attached to a bangle bracelet that slips over my wrist - and I have learned to slip it on immediately after turning off the ignition of the car or turning the lock of the house. Since I'm wearing it instead of carrying it I haven't left it lying amidst the apples I was selecting at the grocery store in years. It's training yourself to put it on immediately that is the hard part, but once that becomes second nature you stop worrying about locking yourself out, etc. Part two of the strategy is also training - there is a slot in my purse for that bangle and I put it there as soon as I get into the house and put my purse away. I do that first thing and am very strict about it.

» energynow - hello to this "thread", silver lining

In response to message posted by CarolWallace:

Had extra time, so posting on both "threads".
Doing o.k. Need to quit thinking that I'm "over the hill", too fat, too this and too that. Self acceptance is difficult sometimes, but necessary.

The silver lining is that I'm learning much and growing which has always been important to me.
And Just because I'm tired and achy doesn't mean I still can't find joy in life.

Best to all,

Jean

Jean - you are so funny! You are not over the hill. I hear the 50's are wonderful!! Yes that "silver lining" and growing is wonderful.

I am 38 years old and I went throught a spiritual transition at such a young age because of my experience with my ex. Being a mom at 18 years old, would make any grow up fast and then when I finally left my ex I just grew up. That was the other problem; he didn't grow and I did.

In fact, I read sooo many books. The Road Less Traveled by M. Scott Peck, Further Along the Road Less Traveled by M. Scott Peck, and I tried to read Seat of the Soul, but couldn't understand it. And the list goes on.

Carol - Yes a new thread is cool isn't it? Kinda like a sister or brother was born. LOLsmile

Hey Micklady - So nice to see yousmile We need to give my Lupus column a nice boost. Everyone within the lupus columns are at a stand still:(

Well I got to go for now

I've been keeping up with the thread(s) but have apparently missed what is up with you and the lawyer. I hope it is something temporary. It just jumped out at me so I wanted to ask about it and say I am thinking about you and praying for you.

In response to message posted by SarafromSODak:

Hi Sara and all

So glad to be able to "talk". Feeling a little depressed and can't get my sleep cycle straightened out. Have gotten some new clothes ordered also. Now if I only had somewhere to go. I am afraid to drive very far with so little sleep and most of my friends have been out of town for a month so am just stuck in the mud. I did get a really good deal on a full length suede coat and short skirt so that pepped me up. I've always wanted one, but couldn't afford one.

Jean, I would love to have leather pants but I am overweight and over 60. Could I still do it. I promise no gold metallic python print. Camel or beige or chocolate.

Carol, glad to hear from you and that you sound better.

Grandma B, I also don't know what was going on, but glad things are a little better.

Terry-I have been reading books on decluttering right now.

Carol and others-Flylady has had Olympics this week and I have done most of them-throwing ratty underwear, diving into the bottom of the closet, etc. Have only about another hour left on my closet and it will be done.

I had fallen off the Flylady wagon with so much going on, but I felt so much better doing it.

There is to be a conference on FM in Greeneville South Carolina on October 30 I think. One of the ladies from our group will be speaking. I might actually get to go to this. Terry How far away are you? It would be about a two hour drive for me.

Don, have missed your witticisms.

Toall, good to see you. Hugs Joyce

Sara, I think everyone needs to vote.

Try it. Joyce

Joyce,

I don't know, maybe 4 hours or a little longer. Two for you? Where do you live?

Decluttering?? Have you read Simple Abundance?

Sorry that you are feeling depressed. Hope you feel better soon.

No one is too OLD to wear leather pants! In fact, I see a lot of people dress them up so lovely and stylishsmile

Go for it!!

Tery I live in upper east tennessee. The link in my email doesn't work today. I think that strand may have some sort of problem.

Maybe I can get the matching suede pants. I don't know. Yes I read Simple Abundance.
Very good.

Good to talk to you. Joyce

» energynow - Leather pants, other fun stuff

In response to message posted by zhann:

Joyce, I wasn't one who mentioned leather pants.
But did somebody invent a rule that said if you were over 60 and overwt., you couldn't wear them??? Personally, I envy the gals with good figure and nice legs who can wear the leather mini-skirts.Ha! I've worn dresses down to my ankles for several yrs.--seems like that's about all I can find that fit.

But I went "wild" in Pigeon Forge few wks. ago and bought me pr. of hot pink capris with matching top and ditto with royal blue with fish all over it. Capris feet rather snug, but I feel "cool" and sexy in them.

I'll be kickin' on to 54 Aug. 27. So I know someone somewhere will be singing Happy Birthday!

J

Interesting re: fm conference in Greeneville, SC.
Oct. 30. Details??
