» sfarault - Hospital Fashion!

Hi,

I can relate to the feeling of "wearing a paper bag" as I just got out of the hospital on Monday (I broke my wrist and sprained my back in a horse riding accident) after surgery and 2 days in bed.
By the way, I'm typing with my left hand so forgive the typos!

Since I live in France (I'm American), I have noticed some differences in hospital fashion! While the patients' attire is not much different (hospital gowns are about the same everywhere, I imagine) The nurses here have not given up completely on fashion, and while white is the universal color for hospital uniforms, I haven't seen a single white orthopedic shoe! I even saw one of them wearing open heeled shoes (are they called clogs?)French women, even those who work on their feet all day(nurses and nurses aides alike) wear at least a minimum of fashion.

I don't know if this trend will ever be exported to the more dressed-down, comfort-loving Americans. It seems unlikely-the hospitals probably require nurses to wear orthopedic shoes.

Hope you're feeling better - I'm looking forward to reading future articles from you!
