June asked, "Do you buy in bulk, look for deals, grow your own?"

Actually I do all of the above, but save the most by having a large vegetable garden, canning and freezing the surplus as well as selling surplus at our local farmer's market.

We also raise our own beef and bartered a half a beef for a whole hog. We catch our own fish. So now I just have to buy chicken.
