» jerrib - You've pretty well said it, Cindy

My husband and I have been fortunate to be in close families our entire lives. They give such solace in times like this.

Enjoyed your article.

» cmborris - Great message

Hi Cindy,

It's times like this that we hunker in and pull in to those closest to us - even those not related. Thanks for reminding us, times do change.

» bbleigh - The importance of Family

One of the hardest things as a military family is having to be away from family for long periods of time. This is the first time in 10 yrs that we are close enough to see our family. My children have grown up knowing thier grand parents through phone calls and letters.

This is the first Christmas we will spend with our extended families in a decade and my children are estatic.

When service members are deployed during the holidays, the family is often left far, far, away from home adding additional stress.

Adopting a military family in your area for the holidays can help ease the burdens.
