Hi Joy,

What an interesting and sad/joyful tale! Humankind has such a checkered relationship with the rest of the animal kingdom.

Enjoyed your writing as usual. I always take away a lot of feeling and information from your articles.

Tom

Thank you for an eye-opening article. What a mess we humans often make in this world.

If only people could learn to respect animals as living beings and not treat them as dispensable playthings.

I only hope that my articles help to inform the public. People can't fix what they don't know about.

Very well written article and so informative. I've heard about the work out at Tiger Creek from others. What wonderful work these heroes do!

I absolutely love the "big cats". I just can't hardly bear to hear of them mistreated...or any animal for that matter. Thanks for the great article!

Hi Lisa, you actually live in the same neck of the woods as Tiger Creek don't you? I'm glad you enjoyed the article.

is a tough road to hoe when you are trying to help them get back to normal. People that devote their lives to this effort are angels, aren't they?

Yes, they are, Jerri, and especially those who rescue the big, exotic animals. They have their hands full.

Joy,

Two weeks ago the Ontario SPCA raided a kennel and took out 129 dogs who were emancipated, starving and freezing. It was a puppy mill. One dog's carcass was frozen in its' kennel and someone had attempted to burn two others. The dogs were full of fleas and mangy. The owners of the kennel have been charged and face two years in prison. The dogs each needed $500 worth of veterinary care. The SPCA were appealing to the public to give donations and contributions of food, cleaners and they needed volunteers to help walk the dogs and clean cages. Everyone pulled together and the dogs will soon be put up for adoption. Only two dogs had to be put down, but think of the hundreds that died before someone complained.

In response to message posted by Red:

Puppy mills should, ethically, be outlawed. At the very least they need to be government regulated. In the absence of that, people should report to their local SPCA, anything that doesn't seem quite right. Animals are at our mercy. They can't speak for themselves. We MUST speak out for them.
