It ran great and has tons of room for the dogs and my gear. It was stolen one Friday night before a show with all my gear in it. Not only did they take the van but about $1000.00 in equipment. I missed my show and had to buy all new equipment. They never found it and for the life of me I can't see why anyone would want to steal that old ratty truck. Paint was pealing and she looked like a junker but she got me to my shows. Oh well... Life goes on... -- posted by StrmDncr

Oh how awful! Seems kind of odd they never found it. I can only imagine how you must have felt! Yeah, you'd think they would have chosen a brand new vehicle to take! Back when I was showing in obedience, I had an old 84 Dodge van. Very reliable. I took the middle seats out as I do in all my vans in order to be able to haul things. Several of us would always go together to shows and I had plenty of room for everybody and all the dogs. One time we were on the way to a show in Houston and got stopped because my van looked similar to one that had been stolen (car thieves must love Dodges!). When the cop realized it wasn't the right van he let us go. Well, one of the German Shepherds we were taking to the obedience show also happened to be a drug dog belonging to my friends who had a canine contraband detection business. We started joking and saying that if the cop had wanted to do a drug search we already had the dog for it. The funny thing about my fan was that the first owner used it for dog shows too. When we told the guy at the dealership that we were going to do the same he said, " You dog people must really like this Dodge vans." I just laughed. Little did I know how much the thief would like it too. I was upset about the van being missing at 5 am but I think I was more ticked off because my gear was missing and I couldn't make my show. I had loaded the van the night before. If I'd had my gear I could have used Hubbys car, but with out all my grooming equipment and show leads and brushes I'd have to buy all that stuff at the show and I'd never have enough time to make it to the ring. Plus I wouldn't be able to tote it all home again. I learned a hard lesson that day. I've been out of the ring for a while now but I hope to get back there next spring. Fingers crossed. We've got a possible show prospect coming this fall...It will be my first new dog since Blu passed away 3 years ago... Wish me luck. -- posted by StrmDncr » _Boanerges_ - my chevy van...... All that gear would have cost so much more at the show too. I wish you the very best with your new pup. Of course no other dog will never take Blu's place but I've learned that each pet is special in its own way, and it IS possible to love again. -- posted by Joy Butler

Early 70's? I think you're right. I can't believe those pics were taken with a cell phone. Great quality for a phone! -- posted by Joy Butler « Previous 1 2 3 Next » Please follow the guidelines set forth in the Suite101 Posting Etiquette when adding to the discussion. |
