I had my eye on Smarty Jones even before he was the Derby favorite. He had such an impressive record and workout times. I look forward to the Belmont. We noticed his ears flicking back and forth, too. He was barely breathing hard when the race ended, so here's hoping he handles the next one as easily. He seems to be an exceptional horse. Yes, I've loved watching the ponies run ever since I was a kid. We used to have a local track but it closed and now I only watch on tv. I'm also encouraged by the trainer, Nick Zito, and his wife, who are becoming active in racehorse rescue. -- posted by Joy Butler

Hi Wendy. I'm very excited about Smarty. I don't think the extra distance in the Belmont will bother him. He was still pulling away from the others in the Preakness. I think he is destined to be a great horse and if he loses the Belmont I will be one disappointed person. We'll see.... -- posted by Joy Butler
