I hope it's spring in your part of the world, so you can celebrate in style. We have 10" of heavy wet snow with more coming down, and a strong cold wind making life miserable. Last Sunday was just as bad. I can hardly believe that it is May.The only flowers which had been blooming in my garden before all this were the scilla which I am sending you, and I hope that they can survive this unseasonal onslaught.
By the time your birthday comes around, I will either be admiring my surviving scilla or else be grieving for the dead ones.

Well, we had a snowstorm here a couple of weeks ago, but right now it is hot and all my scilla are blooming. Some of their leaves froze during the last snowstorm. The lily of the valley which I am sending you this year are just poking their leaves out of the ground. In my native Germany, they are blooming right now. That is why they are called "little May bells" in German. This year, your birthday falls on a very special day, Mother's Day, so you and your wife can share celebrate as a couple. Enjoy yourselves with your children and be good to each other.
