I've never had the opportunity to visit the Rockies but hope to some day. They are spectacular!

Have zipped around the Blue Ridge a bit and walked a tiny bit on the Appalachian Trail where it starts in Georgia.

You're right about the lush forest. I think that old saying, "you can't see the forest for the trees" must have started there.

If you're ever in North Carolina, close to a small city called Robbinsville, visit the Joyce Kilmer National Forest. Absolutely beautiful. Old growth and lots of rocks!
