Hi Genia,

What a wonderful article. I love music and enjoyed reading your opening paragraphs about it. You really captured music's effect on the human spirit!

I didn't really know anything about the ocarina. What a wonderful instrument! It is fascinating to see all the different materials that can be used to make one. I enjoyed following the links. Ocarina makers certainly are imaginative and artistic. I especially enjoyed seeing the ocarina made from a lemon, then painted to look like an African Mask.

Great article! Thanks!

I'm very glad you enjoyed it, Tina. It's more than likely that they've only tapped the surface discovering how music effects us and how it can be used. The ocarina seems to be such a versatile and convenient little item that any age would enjoy it. Inexpensive too, which is also a plus.

Thanks, Tina! smile

G'day Genia...
Yeah! This was really a good article. I did not know about the ocarina... Thanks for sharing that with us. The 'links' are quite good too. I did like very much the quotes you added! A nice touch!... Maybe Coldplay would use a few ocarina's in their music ...smile..

Ocarinas were also a favorite with World War I soldiers since they were so lightweight and handy to carry around

Thats an interesting fact! Hmm.. I never thought about it much. Amazing the things we seem not to notice, but others do and bring to our attention. A good article to be suresmile

Hope all is going well with you....

Thanks, W. "Coldplay and ocarinas"...now there's an idea. smile

It seems ocarinas were used because they were handier than harmonicas (maybe a bit quieter too).

You're always presenting things for me to think about, so I'm very glad to be able to do the same. :-)

Hmm... now I think I have to agree... Seems you might be a Coldplay fan?....

On a side note, not sure if I left this link for you?.. I thought you might find it interesting:
