» chanson13 - Re: Esperanto & Poular Music In response to message posted by rik:Saluton, Joelle Rabu here in British Columbia, Canada. I recorded an album in 1986 entitled PASSPORT, which featured 3 songs in Esperanto (2 Edith Piaf tunes and one of my own LA Valso Patrina), plus a song in 10 languages entitled: Esperanto, which I wrote to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the language in Poland the following year. My trio and I attended the 1987 congress and did a concert in Warsaw. Most of my songs have been translated into Esperanto as I have love performing in different languages(I speak French, English, German and Sign language)however I find the translation of some of them to be awkward in poetry. They were translated by non-musical people. My 1986 recording is no longer available except on dinasaur(!)vinyl. I hope one day to record a CD in Esperanto providing I can find good translations of my style of songs (torch, chanson-dramatique)and of course the funding to do such a project! My PASSPORT vinyl and cassette recording is available for sale in Rotterdam at the UEA office and also via my own mail order email service. -- posted by chanson13
