» OhSoLittleMouse - Acceptable dog behaviour

Although the writer is definitely enthusiastic about Mastiffs, it was concerning to me how unacceptable dog behaviour was so flippently written about.

Food guarding, nipping at house guests etc. absolutely cannot be tolerated by this giant breed. Yes all dogs have different personalities, but it came across like the owner was proud of these traits.

This Mastiffs behavour is wrong , You can let a mastiff decide who is good and bad This mastiff thinks he is the boss. Please send this mastiff to obedaiance classes "now".

I think it's funny that people say things like this- I wonder if these people own a mastiff? We have a 2 year old male English Mastiff. My 3 year old daughter can walk him. He is loving to ALL types of animals inclding my daughters pet gerbil. BUT he has definite opinions about other people. 70% of our friends and family can play and love him like we do- There are a people he wll not tolerate. We do put him in his room( Yes, my mastiff has his own room) when those people might come to our house but he will let them know that their presence truly is unacceptable to him. He passed obedience class with flying colors and in fact loved his trainer. So do I think that this article showed a "bad" dog- NO WAY!! He is a mastiff- he does what he does because he CAN!!
