» Carol Wallace - 'Midwinter Fire'

Jane - is this the cornus with stems that look like flames, from a deep color at the base fading to yellow? I saw it in a wholesale catalog a couple of years ago and have been trying to remember the name (and locate a few for myself) ever since!

» JaneHollis - Yes, that's right.

Carol,
Yes, that’s the one. Also called Winter Beauty and Winter Flame. I find the coloration more eyecatching than the red stems of Cornus alba. It also copes with drier soils than many other cornus species.
