Hope you don't mind me joining in on this discussion but I, too am very fond of Sedums. Together with Sempervivums, they make a great show for most of the year. A point about slugs...you could try making a smallish trough and planting it up with some of the less rampant sedums (SS acre var minus, "Dudley Field", etc) and lift the trough out of the slugs way. Say on top of a wall.
