» Cottage_Garden - Diana, have you any thoughts on the type of water to be used on Diana, have you any thoughts on the type of water to be used on these plants? I wonder if they are particularly sensitive to mineral buildup or ph or chlorine/chloramine? Would it be worth using distilled water? For humidity, is it better to mist them or is it enough to rely on the evaporation from the damp moss? I suppose some of the humidity question depends on whether or not you have a top on the container and how dry your surrounding atmosphere is, but I know these plants have a reputation for being finicky....our flytraps tend to last about 6 months -- but that's because about once every 6 months I space out and forget to water it! How can I get the seeds of the plant, and how should I germinate them?-- posted by AztecaBoy14 » aprilcohen - Re: Diana, have you any thoughts on the type of water to be used WE CARRY CARNIVOROUS PLANTS IN OUR GARDEN CENTER AND WOULD ONLY USE RAIN WATER OR DISTILLED WATER. THEY DO NOT LIKE CHLORINE. THAT WILL KILL THEM QUICKLY. WE ALSO DO NOT RECOMMEND WATERING FROM THE TOP. KEEP THE IN MOST SPAHGNUM MOSS SITTING IN A SAUCER WITH WATER. FLYTRAPS DO NOT LIKE THEIR FEET IN TOO MUCH WATER. REMEMBER THEY ALL GO DORMANT IN THE WINTER MONTHS SO WHAT YOU THINK IS DEAD, MAY NOT BE.CHECK OUR CARNIVOROUS OUT ON OUR WEBSITE. WWW.
