» ubahglenda - Looking for a terrific phonics based reading software?

Usborne Books has an incredible new software program out called "Make Reading Fun". It is a phonics based program for emergent or reticent readers that is "like having an individual teacher with your child", says Title 1 Director.

Make Reading Fun is packaged in 4 Modules that are sequential. Each module contains three books and three CDROMS. Module 1 is for ages 2-4, Module 2 is for ages 3-5, Module 3 is for ages 4-6 and module 4 is for ages 5-8. Modules can be purchased individually or as a complete package.

For more information on the Make Reading Fun Program and other software available from Usborne Books go to www.ubah.com/L0795

Thank you for the information, Glenda. If you could provide me with a sample, I'd be glad to review your products on this site. I have been by your website, and was impressed.

Great phonic software that we use with our reading specialists in the Lindbergh School district in St. Louis, MO is POKEY TOES!
The kids love it and other teachers are requesting it now.

My son doesn't seem to "get" phonics and I think he is more of a visual learner. Does anyone know of good reading software with a mor visual approach? Do you think the Living Books might be good to help him learn? He is four and a half but kids go to school in my country at 5

There's an older Arthur title which relies a lot on sight words and not a lot of phonics. It's called Arthur's Learning Games. I've been trying to think what other reading programs I have that aren't phonic based, and that's the only one which comes to mind. And yes, the Living Books would be good also. There are a lot of those out there...check some of the discount places for good prices, since these are older programs. If I think of anything else, I'll let you know.
