In response to message posted by martine3038:I teach a class online for K-12 teachers to help them integrate quality technology applications into their classrooms and lessons. It really is amazing what one can to with tradition lessons revised to add some area of technology to the curriculum. -- posted by calley » rahunter_nf - Welcome, Stacy Great kickoff to what promises to be a useful topic for teachers and parents! For several years before I retired, I had one or two Commodore 64's in my grade five classroom and found them a useful educational (and recreational) tool. I remarried after I retired and my wife and I were blessed with two children, now in grade one and kindergarten. I'm responsible for helping them do their homework and use our family computer. Thus, I've subscribed to Educational Activities K-6 Students with the hope of finding educational activities that I can introduce to them. I hope that you enjoy being a part of Suite101.com as much as I do. -- posted by rahunter_nf » calley - Re: Welcome, Stacy In response to message posted by rahunter_nf:Exactly what are you searching for...actual lessons, ideas, links to sites for children, or all of the above? I have quite a bit of information reasearched for my class. Let know what you would like, and I will try to help with my materials. -- posted by calley » rahunter_nf - Calley In response to message posted by calley:Exactly what are you searching for...actual lessons, ideas, links to sites for children, or all of the above? At this time, I'm mainly interested in ideas for enjoyable educational activities that I or my wife and I can do with our children to reinforce or expand on what they do in school and in sites that present such ideas. Although both children like doing their homework, I think that Robert, who is in grade one, gets too much of it for me to supplement it with actual lessons. I spend one to two hours every evening helping him with his homework. Shekinah, who is in kindergarten, doesn't get much homework (about a half hour to hour of it twice a week) but likes to watch Robert do his. At one time, I started to prepare a folder of links to sites for children in our Favorites. However, because our children seem to prefer the children's educational software and activity books that I was able to purchase locally to children's sites, I abandoned the project. However, I have Jean Armour Polly's The Internet Kids & Family Yellow Pages ( http://www.netmom.com/ ) to help me locate good sites if I decide to go that route again. I have quite a bit of information researched for my class. Let know what you would like, and I will try to help with my materials. Thanks for your kind offer, which I gladly accept. -- posted by rahunter_nf » speterswalters - Thank you! I wanted to say thank you all for the wonderful welcome! I just spent the last 3 days at a wonderful reading and literature conference and came away with some great ideas to pass along.-- Stacy -- posted by speterswalters » speterswalters - Re: Great Topic! In this section I will be focusing on how computers can be integrated into other subject areas and how they can be used on their own. I think that almost every subject area can be integrated with computer use.-- Stacy In response to message posted by martine3038: -- posted by speterswalters » speterswalters - Re: Re: Great Topic! I definitely agree that there are many ways that you can use technology in traditional lessons. Do you have a public section of your online class that I could view? I love to read about what other people are doing.-- Stacy In response to message posted by calley: -- posted by speterswalters » colleenmwilliams - Stacy A is for awesome article, B is for bright ideas, c is for creative...
