» Red - Storing Carrot...

Vic,

I found this article very interesting. I grew up on a farm and when we harvested the carrots in the fall, we always left them laying in the sun for the rest of the day. We then put them in a root cellar. They were always as fresh as the day we harvested them. Grandma was pretty smart about such things.

Thanks for sharing this. I would like to invite you to submit it to the Nature's Treasures Event. If you have any questions, follow the link to my topic and drop me a line. My e-mail addy is posted in my profile.

Take care. Your topic is shaping up nicely.

Hi Mary! Yes, carrots are one of the easiest veggies to store, and even when they do start getting shrivelled, they are still worth throwing in the stew pot. smile

I wish I had a root cellar or could build one (it's on my list of projects), but I do use an area of the garage for this purpose. It's really too bad people have lost track of the simpler ways to live - root cellars are just such a good idea!

You also pickle or freeze them. Or make into carrot uice and freeze that.
