» Brian Tubbs - Has anyone read....?

Has anyone read Undaunted Courage by Stephen Ambrose? I got it for Christmas this past year, and still haven't read it. Too many other books on my to-read pile, but it's working its way up there slowly, but surely.

Also, Jim, a question for you...

When are you going to write an article or articles on the Lewis & Clark expedition?

» StateOFranklin - I wish I could.

I have not read Ambrose. I did read the collected journals and letters from the exploration.

The actual survey that Lewis and Clarke made was outside of the geographic region I agreed to stay in. There is a wonderful site here at Suite 101 that deals with the Old West.

As many of you know I am a surveyor by profession. Lewis, Clarke, Freemont, Carson, etc. all hold a special place in my intrests.

Maybe I should do an article on some of the lesser known explorers. Timberlake, Walker, Boone (while not lesser known, not thought of this way usually), Ellicot, Donnelson, etc.

Many of our early leaders were surveyors at one time or another. I seem to recall that George Washington did other things in his life besides surveying....

» Brian Tubbs - You Could Partner

You could partner up with the Old West editor. I did something similar with the Colonial America editor (Jeanine Dugan) in our look at Benedict Arnold. She looked at his family. I took the man himself. Just a thought.
