» paleogeoff - 3rd edition FrankI want to stand up and be heard - I LOVE 3rd EDITION. OK, I'll sit down now. I've been a D&D player since the Basic set back in the early 80's. I loved the game then (but I did make my own changes). I never played 2nd edition, mostly because I thought the rules got too complex. I have enjoyed what they've done to 3rd edition and I think it's an easier edition to get new players interested in the game. Again, I do think there are some problems with it. I don't like how the game treats languages - I don't think just because a PC knows elven, mean they can speak and write it fluently - even for an elf. How many Americans speak and write English fleuntly? I'll let Frank share his own comments on that. We are not at this time converting our online group to 3rd because 3rd is not as easy to use on a computer as 2nd ed. Particularly if one has Core Rules cd's. I was excited about 3rd myself, more so than Frank, I believe. I found the rules, the exceptions to the rules and the additions to the rules for 2nd to be complicated and sometimes confusing. I was hoping 3rd would stream line all this. So far I am not disappointed. They are already doing that with 3rd too - with Psionics, Oriental, and all the class books. Do you think they will feel compelled to fiddle with the system and publish books that adjust or add on to rules? -- posted by TW0EDGE » paleogeoff - Re: Some More on 3rd Edition In response to message posted by TW0EDGE:I think that as more people play the game and make suggestions to WotC they'll adjust the rules - I just hope they do it in a format that most people already use - such as Dragon magazine or on the web site. THe nice thing I like about 3rd is that as they designed the game they actually listened to the people who play the game when making changes. I think they should continue to do this to round out the game and continue to make it fun. If the players don't feel the game is as fun as it should be, they'll stop playing - look at what's happening to M:TG CCG. -- posted by paleogeoff
