My interest in on-line gaming was begun do to the lack of time to find a new off-line group, let alone the time to get together regularly to play.

I was first introduced to gaming one night when I was looking through the chats on AOL. One in particular caught my eye. I popped in and watched for a bit, but, my personality being what it is, my friends say I tend to be the quiet type, I did not stop to play myself. I popped out of there and was immediately followed by someone who introduced me to on-line play and a new window for Role Play.

I have found that, in on-line play, the stories seem to be more in depth. At least with the group I was involved with. The opportunities to role play are enormous as well and on-line play provides an extremely wide variety of players that may not be available off-line. (That is not always a good thing though).

I do miss off-line play, and would recommend to anyone, if they can manage it, to stay involved with both as they both offer a great variety of play and a chance to try new things. Try that new character class/race/ or whatever on-line before developing it for off-line campaign play. You might well find it works out well and you may be more apt to try things on-line that you may not with a close knit group of friends off-line.

p.s. What is Frank's take on the on-line / off-line issue???
