Hi Joan, thanks for all the great information in the article. And I'm glad there are people like you out there, rescuing these unfortunate animals. God bless you! Hope you are well, Joan. Renie-- posted by Renie_Burghardt

In response to message posted by JButler:You are so right! Many Rescues are passed over, shelters may not even show them for adoption, but Rescuers see the potential, and the rewards are so great. Take a look at Hope and Freedom at www.dogality.com. This is the difference love makes!

I read the story of Hope and Freedom and am so happy for them. I was surprised to find out how young they are. Those first pictures were horrible but that last group showed so much improvement! Someday they will be loving, beautiful pets. They really have a bunch of angels working with them!
Carly's problem was not health or coat, but behavioral. It took two years for a breakthrough! In fact, I had finally decided she would never change. Now she is so sweet, I can hardly realize she is the same little dog. As you said, this is the difference love makes! Never give up! I posted her story on my topic, http://www.suite101.com/article.cfm/extr...

In response to message posted by JButler:Joy,
As difficult as it is to deal with the many health problems I see in Rescue, sometimes I think these are easier to cope with then the ones who are psychologically damaged. Just as you with Carly, I rejoice in the smallest achievements. Just approaching for a treat can be such an accomplishment in a poor wounded soul. It may take longer to win their trust, but I've been blest so many times to see love win out with these dogs! I am glad Carly had you! :-)
